On Monday we celebrated the school receiving our 5th Green Flag and our first Active Flag. After raising the two flags, both committees enjoyed lunch in Scholars as a well deserved treat.
On 20th January some members of the Green Schools’ Committee started planting in the Native Garden.
A Rowan tree, 2 Holly Trees, Honeysuckle, Ferns, Lavender, Sage, Pyrocanthia, Virginia Creeper and wildflowers were planted with the help of Mrs Berrill, Mr Shevlin and Stephen.
Here are some pictures from the day:
Today in G2 we created our own indoor wormery. Using soil, sand, chalk and stones we created a layered environment for our new guests to live in. We added grass and dead leaves to the top so the worms would have something to eat. We are going to observe our new friends every day and see how they settle in to G2.
R2 have begun to create a Bug Hotel in the school’s Native Garden.
Ms Thompson kindly delivered two pallets to school from which we are creating our Bug Hotel.
The boys in R2 and the Green Schools’ Committee are collecting plastic bottles filled with materials from the garden and the home. We are putting these into the Bug Hotel.
We are hoping to attract all kinds of bugs who are looking for a new home!
