A massive well done to all the boys that took part in the Boyne Atheletics Club Challenge Cup. The boys performed very well across all races, from the 100m sprints all the way up to the lung busting 300m race.
The boys also had great success in the 4x100m relay races.
As you will see from the photos there was a huge haul of medals brought back from the Lourdes Stadium.
Last week the boys were lucky enough to have the opportunity to meet a local hero and an inter-county football star.
Louth footballer and captain of the two in a row Senior County Champions, The Newtown Blues, Andy McDonnell paid a visit to the school to talk all things football, answer the many questions that were put to him and he also put the Gaelic football team through their paces with training a session.
The boys picked up some expert tips about the importance of nutrition as well as developing their skills with new training drills.
We would like to thank Andy for offering up his time and hopefully his visit will inspire future football stars from St. Joseph’s.
We are delighted to announce that we are hosting our very first Golf Classic this year. The Classic will take place on Thursday the 18th of April 2019 and the venue is the award winning County Louth Golf Club or Baltray as it is more affectionately known. A team of 4 will cost €350 and this includes your round of golf plus a meal afterwards.
As teams are limited we expect this to book up quite quickly so to ensure your place contact 0419833620 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Congratulations to the boys of St. Joseph’s who completed the first stage of our Run/Walk around Europe. The boys completed 530KM on Friday which got them to London and a small part of the way towards our next stop which is Lisbon. After Lisbon our next port of call will be Madrid before moving on to Paris.
Also a big well done to Mr. Carberry’s class who completed the most kilomnteres this week. They travelled an impressive 82.6KM. Let’s see if any class can beat that this week!!!
At today’s Active Schools Committee our committee each received their Active Schools Badge and Playground Leaders jacket. They also launched our next project which is Run/Walk Around Europe. This will involve all classes running as much as they can during lunch breaks and the distances they run will be accumulated to see how many European Cities they get to visit. The Active Schools Committee members will record the distances and our website will be updated each week to let everyone know how far we’ve ran!!!
Our first target is London!!!
