Louth F.A.I 5-a-side Competition

Two teams from sixth class represented our school at the recent Louth F.A.I 5-a-side soccer blitz. Our teams, managed by Mr. O’Reilly, performed superbly.

Our red team topped their group with an unbeaten run while our green team were very unlucky to loose out on second place in their group by a single goal.

Our red team qualified for the final stages of the competition and finished in a very respectable third place overall!

Well done to all the boys who took part. They represented our school brilliantly and played each game in a spirit of sportsmanship and fairness!!

Rith 2016 – Active Schools

Our next Active Schools event will be taking place on Sunday, March 13th.  The event is in association with “Rith 2016″.  This event is a nationwide initiative that involves 700 schools using athletics to promote Seachtain na Gaeilge.  (More details can be found on the website www.rith.ie) Each school will run 1km over the course of two weeks in a relay format.  St Joseph’s will be running from the bottom of Trinity Street to Scotch Hall on Sunday the 13th of March at approximately 12pm. The Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson of our Active Schools Committee will receive and carry the baton on behalf of our school.

We would like to invite all members of our school community to partake in this extremely positive event.  The arrangements for the day will be for everyone to meet on the Fair Green at 11:45.  We will walk  to Trinity Street where we will then run/walk the kilometre from Trinity Street to Scotch Hall as a group.

We look forward to taking part in this event as a school and hope that you can find the time to join us in a fun filled morning.

St. Joseph’s CBS – Active School

A VERY POSITIVE BEGINNING TO AN ACTIVE SCHOOL CAMPAIGN! Already our pupils are off to a flying start. There was a great sense of whole school enthusiasm for our running trials in the Boyne Rovers pitch as all classes participated on September 3rd when the weather proved very favourable. Well done to the helper pupils from R10 under the guidance of Mr. Mulroy in very effective organisation of the event.

The 45 runners selected from the trials did the school proud this Wednesday as they competed in the Louth Sports Partnership running event for 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th class pupils. Well done to all competitors!

St. Joseph’s CBS Gaelic football squad have also had a very promising start to the season with good training sessions on Thursdays and a successful kick off to the campaign with a narrow victory over Ardee who always prove to be very difficult opposition. Tús maith leath na hoibre.
