G5 showing their gymnastic abilities and developing new movement skills with their gymnastic coach.
At today’s Active Schools Committee our committee each received their Active Schools Badge and Playground Leaders jacket. They also launched our next project which is Run/Walk Around Europe. This will involve all classes running as much as they can during lunch breaks and the distances they run will be accumulated to see how many European Cities they get to visit. The Active Schools Committee members will record the distances and our website will be updated each week to let everyone know how far we’ve ran!!!
Our first target is London!!!
Well done to the boys from St. Josephs who represented the school so well at the recent Garda Sports Day. In what is an annual event that is always eagerly anticipated by students from all over Drogheda, it was great that the weather held up and allowed the students of Drogheda to demonstrate their athletic prowess. St. Josephs were well represented and competitive in all events and managed to take two medals in total back to Sundays Gate. A big congrats to all the boys and a big thank you to Mr. Mulroy for preparing the boys for the event.
A special word of thanks to the Garda Síochana of Drogheda for what is always a well run and exciting event and the O’Raghallaighs GFC for providing the facilities.
On Friday afternoon, St. Joseph’s participated in the National Fitness Day for the first time. A fitness challenge was organised where the pupils of 5th and 6th classes took on a selection of St. Joseph’s teachers. There were 5 events that challenged a wide range of skills and fitness levels. After 40 minutes of intense activities the teachers emerged victorious but not after being pushed all teh way by the pupils. Well done to all and a big thank you to the boys on the Active School Committee!!!
Here at St. Joseph’s we are delighted to announce that our journey to our second Active Schools Flag has begun!!!
A new committee was elected with class representatives from each of the 3rd’s, 4th’s, 5th’s and 6th classes joining the committee.
Our first event of the year will be taking place this Friday afternoon and it’s going top be a good one. Boys from 5th and 6th class are taking on the teachers in a St. Joseph’s CBS fitness challenge, Teachers vs Pupils.
