We are beginning to plant spring flowers in our native garden. R2 planted Daffodils, Crocus and Tulips.
R2 have begun to create a Bug Hotel in the school’s Native Garden.
Ms Thompson kindly delivered two pallets to school from which we are creating our Bug Hotel.
The boys in R2 and the Green Schools’ Committee are collecting plastic bottles filled with materials from the garden and the home. We are putting these into the Bug Hotel.
We are hoping to attract all kinds of bugs who are looking for a new home!
The students in G2 took part in the Hour of Code today. The Hour of Code is a worldwide event that encourages students to try out computer coding from 7th-13th December. Today we visited https://code.org/learn and we tried out the Minecraft tutorial and had fun programming Alex or Steve. To find out more, visit https://hourofcode.com/ie
A big well done to all the boys who took part in School Stars last night in the TLT. St Joseph’s did amazingly well with four acts in the final- Oliver Clutterbuck, Gravity 56, Fergus Brown and Oisin Dunne! The school won awards for best solo dancer, best instrumentalist and best choir. Fergus Brown also came overall third! So proud of our boys😀
Looking after our eggs in G5
Last Monday, all of the students in G5 were given the task of loking after an egg. This was an exciting way for the boys to learn about the idea of friendship and how to look after things carefully. The boys were told not to leave the eggs out of their sight; if they had to, they had to find a minder to look after it for them. Lots of the boys’ eggs lasted until Friday but unfortunately we had a few cracks along the way!!! Here are some photos of the boys’ egg-straordinary work
