Design A Mascot Competition
Fifth classes entered the 2017 Drogheda Motor Show Design a Mascot Competition and 7 boys from Mr Hughes class worked on the final design. Our school was partnered with Smith’s garage on the North Rd which sells ‘Ford’ cars.
Did you know that there are three lions on the Drogheda coat of arms. We decided to use the lion as our mascot wearing a suit which is a road map of Drogheda.
There were lots of other interesting features too. Hopefully the judges like our work!
Design Team: Neil Stafford, George Cree, Joseph Floyd, Ronan Connett, Alex Maguire, Josh Fay and Jamie Lambe.
Seachtain na Gaeilge – ceolchoirm cultúr na hÉireann
Socraíodh ceolchoirm cultúr na hÉireann ar an 16ú Márta chun deireadh a chur leis an ceiliúradh a bhí againn do Sheachtain na Gaeilge. Bhí fáilte roimh gach rang páirt a ghlacadh. Chas banna ceoil na scoile amhrán as gaeilge agus bhí seans againn éisteacht le dánta agus amhránaíocht trí gaeilge. Bhí an fhoireann agus na daltaí uilig ag caitheamh glas don lá. I rith na seachtaine bhí ceolchoirm ceol tradisiúnta sa halla do rang a trí agus a cheathar agus bhí comórtas ealaíne agus comórtas filíochta ag dul ar aghaidh comh maith le tráth na gceist agus go leor imeachtaí eile taobh istigh sna ranganna. Bhaineamar uilig as an seans níos mó gaeilge a úsáid thart ar na scoile i rith an lae go háirithe nuair atá béim curtha ar thaitneamh.
A concert of Irish Culture was organised on the 16th of March to close our Seachtain na Gaeilge (Irish Week) celebrations. Every class was welcome to take part. The school band sang in Irish and we had an opportunity to listen to lots of poems and songs in Irish. During the week there was a concert of traditional Irish music for 3rd and 4th classes as well as art and poetry competitions, table quizzes and many other activities in individual classes. We all enjoyed having the chance to speak more Irish during the school day especially when the emphasis was on fun and enjoyment.
