Congratulations to the boys of St. Joseph’s who completed the first stage of our Run/Walk around Europe. The boys completed 530KM on Friday which got them to London and a small part of the way towards our next stop which is Lisbon. After Lisbon our next port of call will be Madrid before moving on to Paris.
Also a big well done to Mr. Carberry’s class who completed the most kilomnteres this week. They travelled an impressive 82.6KM. Let’s see if any class can beat that this week!!!
At today’s Active Schools Committee our committee each received their Active Schools Badge and Playground Leaders jacket. They also launched our next project which is Run/Walk Around Europe. This will involve all classes running as much as they can during lunch breaks and the distances they run will be accumulated to see how many European Cities they get to visit. The Active Schools Committee members will record the distances and our website will be updated each week to let everyone know how far we’ve ran!!!
Our first target is London!!!
Todays challenge for R7 was for the boys to construct a bridge that would allow someone to cross the following river
Here’s how the boys got on…
And the finished projects
Well done to the boys from St. Josephs who represented the school so well at the recent Garda Sports Day. In what is an annual event that is always eagerly anticipated by students from all over Drogheda, it was great that the weather held up and allowed the students of Drogheda to demonstrate their athletic prowess. St. Josephs were well represented and competitive in all events and managed to take two medals in total back to Sundays Gate. A big congrats to all the boys and a big thank you to Mr. Mulroy for preparing the boys for the event.
A special word of thanks to the Garda Síochana of Drogheda for what is always a well run and exciting event and the O’Raghallaighs GFC for providing the facilities.
